14 Months

Silas has really been growing in his play these past couple weeks. He has started to love playing with his stuffed animals and giving everything hugs. He is even starting to do some pretend play which is so fun to watch. He just recently got another tooth in... it is the 2nd one over on the right side... he has three more working their way in right now.

Having some guy time on the couch.

Lately Silas tries to escape after I get all his clothes and his diaper off before his bath.
We've had a few really cold days lately... Here is Silas all bundled up in his winter gear... when it is really cold out he says "Brrr" when we go outside.
He thinks he looks pretty cool in his sunglasses.. he walks around saying "Daar" (Dark).
No matter which way the horse is facing, Silas always puts his right leg over first, much of the time he ends up backwards.
He likes to show off his belly "Beh"One day he was hungry so I was starting to get lunch ready... he reached into the fridge and grabbed a hotdog and ran into the corner saying "at-ah"
What a mess... tomato soup! Here is Silas hugging the table... he hugs everything!Silas and I built a fort the other day.

This is a sweater that my dad and I wore when we were both Silas' age... doesn't he look handsome!

Silas loves to read... and pull all of the books off the shelf. At least these are his books this time!

Ready... Set ... DOE!

Silas has really enjoyed playing outside lately. His new favorite thing to do is go down the slide. We say "ready... set..." and he says "DOE!" and follows it up with "WEE!" Of course he still loves to play with balls and is even starting to be able to catch a ball from time to time!

Here Silas is holding an ice pack on his head... the actual bump is in the middle of his forehead, haha. Today he slammed his finger in a door so we got out the ice pack again and he held it on his head... then when he was feeling better he said "Ahhbedah" (translation: all better). This poor kid always has at least one bruise or scrape on his head.
He loves wearing his "belt" (He calls it "beh") He grabs these links almost every morning and asks us to put them on him.

Our little handy man... doesn't he look a little like Al from Home Improvement?

Tomorrow Silas will be 14 months old. He is all boy and definitely has a mind of his own!

More Pictures and Videos

Isaiah recently spent a day playing over at Silas' house. By the end of the day, Isaiah was chasing Silas down and giving him hugs. Silas could tolerate it for a very short time.

Jess's old college roommate, Stacy, and her brand-spanking-new husband, Chris, stopped by to visit (Paul was at work) while out west on their honeymoon!

We also went hiking again. This time we went to the old standby, Mount Falcon Open Space. There was a picnic shelter at the top of the mountain and Silas ran all over it! You can't hear it on the videos below, but he is saying "ra-ra-ra-ra-ra..." ("run, run, run, run, run...") almost the entire time.

A Developmental Explosion!

Silas is 13 months old today!
A lot has happened this month:
*Silas' 12 Month Stats:
*Height: 29 1/4 inches (30%)
*Weight: 19 lbs 1/2 oz (8%) (He is still rear facing in the car)
*Head: 18 3/4 inches (78%)

*Silas started walking and running on his own... there is no stopping him now!

*I have had to do some serious baby-proofing

*Silas got his first tooth! His bottom left tooth just broke through a couple days ago and it looks like the right one is not far behind.

*Silas is saying about 30 or so words (that Paul and I understand)

*Silas said his first 2 word phrase (DeeDa PPhhh*spitting*) Translation: Daddy made an elephant noise that sounded like Ppphhh.

*Silas got his first (and second) bumps on his head.

*We got a family picture taken.

And now for some pictures:

Last weekend we went hiking at Devil's Head Lookout Tower. It is a fire tower where you can see for about 100 miles on a clear day! It was amazing. Silas had to touch every tree and rock going up and down. Paul and I took turns carrying him on our backs. (The pictures are a little out of order)

Silas was a little wiped out after the hike!

Wisconsin and The First Piece of Cake!!!

We recently went back to Wisconsin to celebrate my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time. While we were there we were able to see a lot of family and a couple friends.

Silas on the airplane... he did great! He slept for at least part of each trip which helped a lot. He had a great time emptying out the pocket on the seat in front of us.Happy 1st Birthday Silas! We celebrated with family. Silas got to eat his first piece of cake... he loved it (of course) and hasn't been too crazy about veggies since.

We were able to visit my my friend Jaclyn who I hadn't seen in years. It was so nice to see her again.Silas loved her dog MochaSince our trip, Silas has been obsessed with dogs so for his birthday we let him pick out a stuffed dog. He loves it! We are trying to get him attached to it and it seems it may not be too difficult. He sleeps with it, carries it around, and chews on its tail!
