Outdoor Fun

Here are a couple videos of the kids from today:

Silas riding his tricycle. This is the best I have ever seen him do with the pedals.

Here is Maggie exploring a tree. If you listen closely you will hear her say "tuh-wee" (tree).

February!!! (2 1/2 years and 5 1/2 months)

Silas's favorite things to do this month:
-Tell jokes... today's joke: What is white and sticky? A marshmallow!
-Mess around with word beginings: Ex: "Thomas and his friends" becomes "Bomis band bis briends"
-Learning Spanish
-Play with cars (of course)!
-Play with stuffed animals!
-Make Maggie laugh... he is the best at this.
-Playing "Texas Tea"... playing in the water in the sink making "tea" and pouring into glasses for us to "drink"
-Talking about when he is a man... ex: he will have hair on his knees! (he is also planning on marrying a girl and climbing a tree.)

Maggie's newest accomplishments:
-Sitting up with no support... to the point where we can walk away! (She sat up alone for the first time at 3 1/2 months).
-Seems to be working on her "H" sounds... lots of hey, ha, hee, hoe, hoo sounds lately.
-Looking at whoever is holding her.
-Jumping, of course!
-Begining of some stranger anxiety.
-Finally starting to take good naps again!!!
-Working on sleeping better at night, she doesn't give up easy!
-She is in her own room now!
-First tastes of real food: Rice Cereal, she says "mmmm"

Paul and I:
-Paul finished his first draft of his doctrinal paper!!!
-Paul will be going on an immersion trip to SD in March for a week.
-I am starting to be able to keep the apartment presentable (most days).
-I am trying to learn some new (easy) recipes.

16 January 2009

So life has with a 2 year old and a baby can be a bit crazy and exhausting.

---

We had a really nice visit back to MN and WI over Christmas and were able to see alot of family (although we missed the Siegmann's due to bad weather).

Here is a quick update on where we are in life right now:

---

Paul is just about to enter his last semester of Seminary and we are looking forward to what God has in store for us after this. It is such an exciting time. We can't wait for Paul to only have a job!

---

Silas talks a mile a minute and loves to play with his cars and trucks. His favorite thing to do is to reinact scenes from the movie CARS, which he got for Christmas... I think we watch at least part of it 1-2 times a day! His other two obsessions: wearing mesh shorts and fruit snacks!

Maggie is getting so big, 4 months old already! At her last doctor's appointment she was 75th percentile all around... 14 lbs 12 oz! She is starting to enjoy playing with her toys more and even has afew favorites. She loves baths, she splashes everything in sight and I think would stay in there for hours if I let her! Her favorite thing to do is watch Silas. She thinks he is so amazing... if he even looks at her she just lights up. There are times when he is the only one that can bring a smile, and often a laugh, to her face!

Right now our biggest challenge is getting Maggie back on track after a 2 1/2 week trip. She has been having trouble sleeping at night so we are having to do some serious sleep trianing... tonight is night two, hopefully we will see an improvement.

Summertime and the Living's Easy (at least for Silas)

We moved to our new first-floor apartment (no more stairs!) Silas was a big help as you can see.
Silas' new skill: climbing up and going down the slide all by himself!
Silas loves to tell people that he is now sleeping in his Big Boy Bed! He would also want you to know that it has a dump truck, a bulldozer, and a concrete mixer on it. He has done a great job transitioning to his new bed. He only slept on the floor once!We had a visit from a superhero recently! This is Super Silas and his sidekick Danger Doggy!Even Superheroes get tired!

Family day at the park!

This is the skill that Silas is most proud of: hanging from the bar at the top of the slide!

After the park, we stopped by Papa John's to see where Paul works. Silas got a small pizza box and delivers his toy pizza to Mommy and Daddy. He always asks, "Where's my tip?!"

Hopped up on sugar at our neighborhood block party!

This kid is obsessed with fire trucks and police cars!

Pregnancy Update:
We're two weeks from full term and everything is going well. We've got the car seat installed and we're packing the suitcase today!

A Long Awaited Update

16 Months:
Recently Silas has started to get really interested in the toilet so we went out and bought him some underwear and a potty chair. He is still a little nervous about it but he really enjoys sitting on his "potty".

Silas took a big spill outside on the sidewalk.
17 Months:
Silas got pink eye... his eyes were so swollen and goopy. They were glued shut 2 mornings before we got him on medicine. His first time with the medicine he fought and fought, by the end of the 5th day he was begging for more.
Silas started to get really picky with his eating recently. All he would eat were Cheerios in milk. Here he is telling me what he thinks about the meatballs I offered him.

Silas' new favorite game... "A Want" He sits on his stool and Paul or I ask him "what do you want" and he orders food.He has been enjoying wearing hats recently.Yesterday, Silas decided to pull his pants down, put on a cowboy hat and run around the house.

Here are some videos from the past couple weeks:
Bubbles!

Crawling!
