Nine Month Appointment

Silas had his 9 month appointment today. It went really well. The doctor said he is doing really well and thinks he is really social, especially for his age. It was a great appointment since he didn't have to have any shots. Here are his new stats:

Height: 28 inches (45th percentile)
Weight: 17 lbs 10 oz (10th percentile)
Head: 18 inches (70th percentile)

Man, this kid is long and skinny... with a big Bratsch head!

The First Hair Cut... OOPS!

Silas is getting really good at walking around the house. Sometimes he even "runs" up and down the hall. Today Silas walked to our front door, stuck out his tongue, turned around and walked away. Then he walked back to the door and waited for it to open. I walked out into the breezeway with him and he decided it would be fun to walk to every one of our neighbor's doors and stand on their welcome mats for a little while... it was reallly funny. We got Silas a push toy. He loves to play with it but hasn't quite figured out how to make it go on his own yet.The push toy is like a little mail cart. Silas likes to deliver the mail and bang the letters together to make a really cool noise.
Paul is still training for the marathon... about three weeks to go. I think he is trying to turn Silas into a runner.
We got Silas some sunglasses. He would much rather eat them than wear them so far.

And Silas' new favorite activity... emptying out all his books onto the floor, what fun!
Recently he discovered our "guard turtle" outside our bedroom. He was so afraid to touch it at first but now it is one of his regular destinations as he walks around the house.

(It is really hard to cut the hair on a head that won't stay still. I may have cut it a little short over the ears. Oops!)



Well, that's about it. Less than two weeks until we head back to Minnesota for the marathon, cabin and lots of visiting with family! We can't wait.

Yet Another Milestone

Silas has started to walk around when we are holding his fingers. He is actually moving pretty well, sometimes we can hardly keep up. He is also starting to be able to support himself while he is standing. He is so excited! He walks around the apartment talking to himself, it is so cute. Paul finished up another semester. We are officially half way through Seminary! This past weekend there was a picnic for all the graduates. Here is Silas with our friend Beth (Austin and Beth used to be our neighbors and they flew in from Texas for graduation). Silas was afraid to walk on the grass and kept holding his foot up, it was really cute.


They also had a Twister Moon Walk for the adults.Congratulations to all our friends who graduated this year!

We then had a little picnic to celebrate our friends expecting a baby in June.

Sick

Paul and I ended up getting sick too. We are starting to feel better, finally able to keep some liquids down. Silas was such a good boy with two sick parents! Hopefully we will all be back to ourselves soon.

8 Months

Silas is eight months old now, where does the time go?!


He was weighed and measured yesterday:


Length: 27 inches

Weight: 17 1/4 lbs

Then he got sick... he has a stomach virus with vomiting and diarrhea (no fun) but he is doing pretty well considering, just having trouble keeping things down and in. Today we went to see the doctor just to make sure he was ok, and he was down to 16 lbs 6 oz. (he lost almost a pound from being sick, poor guy.)

My mom gave us her old car... it is so nice, Silas really liked the moon roof. (Thanks Grandma Sara and thanks to Grandpa Bratsch for helping Paul to drive it back.)

When Silas can't quite reach something, he grabs a toy (here the spoon) and tries to pull it over closer to him, how smart.

He is getting more comfortable on his tummy each day. He has started to move around a little more. Paul says I am his motivation to move... he moves most when he is trying to crawl into my lap.

Finger Foods, Baseball, and much, much more!

Silas loves to play with Paul. They have a fun game where Paul hides his face in the ground and Silas pushes on his head until he lifts it up. Silas laughs and laughs and they do it again!Si is getting so much better at being on his tummy. He was actually laughing and playing on his tummy today. Last night he turned himself half-way around in a circle to face me (I started by his feet) Maybe he will crawl someday!?Silas has started eating some finger foods. I think it is his favorite part of the day! He eats saltine crackers and cheerios really well. Here is a video (notice the tongue at the end--see previous post.)

Bath time is still one of Silas' favorite parts of the day. He really likes to sit up and splash around in the tub. I still have to hold him, mainly because he gets so wild he almost tips over all the time.

Well, baseball season has started and the Twins are doing well... Paul and Silas love to play catch with his giant Twins baseball.
